Projects:
-
Definition Paper: This is an essay for defining what the field of learning, design and technology is. In hindsight, this aided the conceptualization of instructional design, how to explain to others what instructional design is and the ubiquity of the field. For this assignment, looking back on the semester, the only thing the writer would change is their description of the field to specifically say instructional design is essentially long-term planning. This is more tangible for scenarios that require an elevator pitch or something similar.
-
Application Project: This is a narrative and analysis of a scenario featuring a group of K-12 students who remotely learn from a job aid. The intention of this job aid is for them to learn the difference between a musical C major and A minor scale. In retrospect , while I learned a great deal about the format of instructional design and how this is implemented, I also learned that not all tools are created equal. Using a step by step procedure on this job aid was not ideal, My intention was to furnish students with the information necessary to complete the instructional objective yet, without an audio file and kinesthetic activity, this format is not ideal for conveying the information. Therefore, knowing which tools are right for the job is essential for ideal instructional design.
